The park also offers quieter places to explore, including Kuno Garden, a Japanese-style garden surrounded by greenery. The Fishermen's Memorial and historic Scotch Pond add a layer of local history to the waterfront, connecting the park to Steveston's long fishing and boatbuilding heritage.

Garry Point Park is a waterfront park, so conditions near the shoreline can change quickly. Swimming is unsafe because of strong currents and the lack of lifeguards. Enjoy the beach and water views from shore, but stay out of the water.
Bring a picnic blanket and layers for the weather—the open waterfront can be noticeably windy, especially later in the day. If you're flying a kite, follow posted rules and keep plenty of space between your kite and other visitors.
Dogs must remain on leash in the park, and visitors should follow posted signs and clean up after their pets.
If you're visiting around sunset, allow extra time for parking, particularly on warm weekends when the waterfront can become busy. Washroom and concession availability may also vary seasonally.
