Some outdoor plans are less about going somewhere far away and more about finding a little breathing room in the middle of everyday life—a quiet garden, a shaded seat and an hour to slow things down.
Set in Richmond’s growing Capstan Village, Aberdeen Neighbourhood Park brings together gardens, pathways and lively urban spaces in a compact setting. Trees, shrubs and flowers soften the surrounding cityscape, while a large plaza, water features and a boardwalk across a rain garden give the park a distinctive mix of nature and city life.
A Little Green Space in the City
Wander through the pathways, cross the pedestrian boardwalk above the rain garden or take a quiet moment beside the Zen garden and pavilion.
The park's water features and landscaped gardens give the walk plenty to look at, while the large plaza provides an open gathering space for community events and cultural activities. The all-ages playground adds another reason for families to linger, making the park easy to enjoy without needing a full day of plans.

Before You Go
If you're bringing a dog, keep a leash with you even when visiting the off-leash area. Richmond requires dogs in designated off-leash areas to remain under their owner's control, stay within sight and be under effective verbal control. Owners must also clean up after their dogs and carry a leash at all times.
The off-leash area is limited to its designated section of the park. Dogs must remain on leash elsewhere in Aberdeen Neighbourhood Park, including around the playground, gardens and other shared spaces.
Families may want to allow extra time for the playground and water features, while visitors looking for a quieter stop can explore the Zen garden and boardwalk. The park also has a public washroom on the west side.
If you're driving, plan around limited street parking rather than expecting a dedicated park parking lot. The City describes Aberdeen as well connected to the surrounding neighbourhood by walking, cycling, transit and other transportation options.
